First-Year Class Council Elections

Each fall, Judicial Council holds elections in each Residence Hall to select a representative for First-Year Class Council.  The timeline for the Fall 2022 election is below.

2022 Elections Timeline

Monday, September 5th:
  • Student Government Showcase and FYCC Info Session at 8:00PM in 129 DeBartolo Hall
  • Email with your name, residence hall, and netID to get your name onto the petition form
    • To ensure that you are on the petition form prior to the start of petitioning, you must submit your name by 11:59 on Tuesday, September 6
    • You may still submit your name after Tuesday, though it will not be ensured that your name will be added prior to the release of petitions
Thursday, September 8th:
  • Petitioning form opens at 8AM
Sunday, September 11th:
  • Petitions due at 12PM (NOON) 
    • Must have 10% of first-years in respective residence hall
Tuesday, September 13th:
  • Emails indicating eligibility/ineligibility sent out to candidates
  • Campaigning may begin at 8AM if eligibility email received
Thursday, September 15th:

Run-off Elections to follow as necessary.:

  • First Runoff: Monday, September 19th
  • Second Runoff: Wednesday, September 21st
Important Election Rules/Regulations
  • Campaign limit of $20, all materials must be approved and receipts handed in to Judicial Council
  • Campaigning may be held ONLY over the period specified by the Election Committee
  • Use of Listservs and Google Groups for campaigning is prohibited (including or any variation thereof)
  • Candidates may create or use a personal social media account or page to campaign, but all activity, including but not limited to text posts, photos, and videos must adhere to the regulations of ethical behavior as detailed in Article XV, Section 1 of the Student Union Constitution
  • Allegations of election misconduct must be submitted to Judicial Council ( or here) within 48 hours of the time committed or 9:00 PM on day of the election, whichever is sooner.
