Code of Conduct

The Officers of the Judicial Council promulgate this Code of Conduct to succinctly collect and circulate the ethical principles that guide the behavior of our members. Most of these rules and principles are not new: similar equivalents have long been enshrined in precedent, historical practice, natural and common sense standards, and derivatives of expectations placed upon judicial actors globally. Nonetheless, the Judicial Council officers decided in September of 2024 to administer and enumerate five cannons of conduct. Many of these ethical cannons are derived from national and federal courts within the United States, meshed with principles unique to the governance of the Student Union.
