2007-2008 Term

President: Ashley Weiss, '08

Ashley Weiss served as the Judicial Council President from April 1, 2007 to April 1, 2008. As President, she nominated and presided over Parliamentarian Tyler Smith, Vice President of Elections Danny Smith, and Vice President of Peer Advocacy Anthony Dayrit. While a Notre Dame undergraduate, Ashley resided in Breen Phillips Hall and studied English and Art History.

Before assuming her role as Judicial Council President, Ashley served as Chair of the Student Senate Committee on Gender Issues, where she oversaw and coordinated both the Eating Disorders Conference and Sexual Assault Awareness Week. She was also the Arts and Letters Chair for Junior Parents Weekend, and was a member of Sophomore Class Council before assuming her role. She later served as a Resident Assistant in Pangborn Hall while serving as Judicial Council President. On March 27, 2007, Ashley was nominated to serve as Judicial Council President by Liz Kozlow and was confirmed by the Council of Representatives. As president, Ashley oversaw a handful of impeachment hearings, sponsored the first annual ‘Rock the Vote’ event to meet candidates running for elected office within the Student Union, and also implemented strict regulations and norms to monitor online campaigning for official Student Union elected positions, which would continue to take shape over future administrations.

In March, 2008, Ashley successfully nominated George Chamberlain as her successor. 

Today, Ashley is the District Attorney for Livingston County, New York.

Parliamentarian: Tyler Smith, '08

In October of 2007, Ashley Weiss successfully nominated Tyler Smith to serve as the Parliamentarian. He served from October, 2007 to April 1, 2008, having previously served as Assistant Programming Director in Knott Hall. While serving as Parliamentarian, Tyler sponsored several of the Weiss Administration’s initiatives to make students more aware of the impact that Judicial Council and individual elections had on campus life. While a Notre Dame undergraduate, Tyler resided in Knott Hall and studied Finance.

Today, Tyler is the Founder and Advisor at BBK Wealth Management.

Vice-President of Elections: Daniel Smith, '08

On April 17, 2007, Ashley Weiss successfully nominated Daniel (Danny) Smith to serve as the Vice President of Elections. He served from April 17, 2007 to April 1, 2008, having previously served as a Senator on the Campus Life Council. While serving in this role, Danny instituted major changes in the election process, including overseeing a handful of runoff elections for Student Union officer positions, the apportionment of four nonpartisan Hall Representatives from the Judicial Council to serve on the Election Commission during campus election season, in addition to championing the introduction of national newspapers onto campus during the time of national elections. While a Notre Dame undergraduate, Daniel resided in Keenan Hall and studied Political Science.

Today, Daniel is a Senior Consultant at Cornerstone Government Affairs.

Vice-President of Peer Advocacy: Anthony Dayrit, '08

On April 11, 2007, Ashley Weiss successfully nominated Anthony Dayrit to serve as the Vice-President of Peer-Advocacy. He served from April 11, 2007 to April 1, 2008, having previously served as the Vice-President of Elections, a Judicial Council Representative, as well as serving as Freshman Orientation Commissioner and Dance Commissioner of Knott Hall. While serving as the Vice-President of Peer-Advocacy, Anthony expanded upon this branch of the Judicial Council’s ability to work with students when they were in need of representation, in addition to working with individual Peer-Advocacy Hall Representatives to ensure that their fellow residents were aware of the impact that their services could have on their experience on campus. While a Notre Dame undergraduate, Anthony resided in Knott Hall and studied English.

Today, Anthony is the Director of Sponsor Finance at BMO Sponsor Finance.
