2017-2018 Term
President: Matthew Ross, '18
Matthew Ross served as the Judicial Council President from April 1, 2017, to April 1, 2018. As President, he nominated and presided over Parliamentarian Colin Brankin, Vice President of Elections Shady Girgis, and Vice President of Peer Advocacy Myrofora "Myria" Zambas. While a Notre Dame undergraduate, Matthew resided in Duncan Hall and majored in International Economics, Italian, and ACMS.
Before assuming his role as Judicial Council President, Matthew served as the Judicial Council Vice President of Elections for the 2016-2017 term, the Sophomore Class Council Treasurer for the 2015-2016 term, and as a First-Year Class Council Representative for the 2014-2015 term. He was nominated to serve as Judicial Council President by Caitlin Geary—his predecessor and the 2016-2017 Judicial Council President—and was confirmed by the Student Senate. As President, Matthew worked to implement election reform, most notably by decreasing the size of the Election Committee to increase efficiency.
Following a year of service, Matthew successfully nominated Shady Girgis as his successor. In addition, Matthew was the 2018 recipient of the prestigious Michael J. Palumbo Award, bestowed annually to "a member of the undergraduate student body for outstanding service and dedication to the Notre Dame Student Union" (Art. XVII, §2(a) of the Constitution).
Today, Matthew is an Investment Manager and Assistant Vice President at Corebridge Financial.
Parliamentarian: Colin Brankin, '20
On March 29, 2017, Matthew Ross successfully nominated Colin Brankin to serve as the Student Union Parliamentarian. Colin served as Parliamentarian from March 29, 2017 to April 4, 2018. Noted by Matthew in his nomination, Colin was characterized by "his ability to remain unbiased, his attentive nature, and his sincere desire to improve the efficacy of the Student Union." While a Notre Dame undergraduate, Colin resided in Siegfried Hall and majored in Chemical Engineering (Summa Cum Laude).
Today, Colin is a Senior New Product Development Engineer at Edwards Lifesciences.
Vice-President of Elections: Shady Girgis, '20
On April 19, 2017, Matthew Ross successfully nominated Shady Girgis to serve as the Judicial Council Vice President of Elections. Shady served as Vice President of Elections from April 19, 2017 to April 1, 2018. While Vice President of Elections, Shady did work in the area of constitutional upkeep and evaluation, while also supervising the administration of all Student Union elections. While a Notre Dame undergraduate, Shady resided in St. Edward's Hall and majored in Psychology and Business Analytics.
Shady was nominated to the role of 2018-2019 Judicial Council President by Matthew Ross and confirmed by a vote of the Senate.
Today, Shady is an Area Sales Manager at Lumenis.
Vice-President of Peer Advocacy: Myrofora "Myria" Zambas, '20
On April 19, 2017, Matthew Ross successfully nominated Myrofora "Myria" Zambas to serve as the Judicial Council Vice President of Peer Advocacy. Myria served as Vice President of Peer Advocacy from April 19, 2017 to April 2018. She impressively assumed the role as a First-Year student, due to her work in high school as a "member of the Disciplinary Committee, a student-run board to hear cases of student misconduct." While a Notre Dame undergraduate, Myria resided in Lewis Hall and majored in Finance and Math.
Today, Myria is a Senior Account Manager at Intapp.
