2016-2017 Term
President: Caitlin Geary, '17
Caitlin Geary served as the Judicial Council President from April 1, 2016 to April 1, 2017. As President, she nominated and presided over Parliamentarian Monica Montgomery, Vice President of Elections Matthew Ross, and Vice President of Peer Advocacy Phil Pickering. While a Notre Dame undergraduate, Caitlin resided in Cavanaugh Hall and majored in Accounting and Spanish, with a minor in Constitutional Studies
Before assuming her role as Judicial Council President, Caitlin served as the Judicial Council Vice President of Elections for the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 terms. She was nominated to serve as Judicial Council President by Zach Waterson—her predecessor and the 2015-2016 Judicial Council President—and was confirmed by the Student Senate.
Following a year of service, Caitlin successfully nominated Matthew Ross as her successor. In addition, Caitlin was the 2017 recipient of the prestigious Michael J. Palumbo Award, bestowed annually to "a member of the undergraduate student body for outstanding service and dedication to the Notre Dame Student Union" (Art. XVII, §2(a) of the Constitution).
Parliamentarian: Monica Montgomery, '19
On April 6, 2016 Caitlin Geary successfully nominated Monica Montgomery to serve as the Student Union Parliamentarian. Monica served as Parliamentarian from April 6, 2016 to March 29, 2017. Noted by Caitlin in her nomination, Monica was characterized by her "remarkable enthusiasm toward meeting the unique challenges of the position of Parliamentarian." While a Notre Dame undergraduate, Monica resided in McGlinn Hall and majored in Political Science (Honors) and Peace Studies.
Today, Monica is a White House Special Assistant at the National Security Council
Vice-President of Elections: Matthew Ross, '18
On April 27, 2016, Caitlin Geary successfully nominated Matthew Ross to serve as the Judicial Council Vice President of Elections. Matthew served as Vice President of Elections from April 27, 2016 to April 1, 2017. While a Notre Dame undergraduate, Matthew resided in Duncan Hall and majored in International Economics, Italian, and ACMS.
Matthew Ross was nominated to the role of 2017-2018 Judicial Council President by Caitlin Geary and confirmed by a vote of the Senate.
Today, Matthew is an Investment Manager and Assistant Vice President at Corebridge Financial.
Vice-President of Peer Advocacy: Phil Pickering, '18, '19
On April 27, 2016, Caitlin Geary successfully nominated Phil Pickering to serve as the Judicial Council Vice President of Peer Advocacy. Phil served as Vice President of Peer Advocacy from April 27, 2016 to April 19, 2017. Phil served as a Peer Advocate before assuming this position, and was characterized for his commitment to working "to improve the Peer Advocacy program to better address the changing needs of students." While a Notre Dame undergraduate, Phil resided in Zahm Hall and majored in IT Management and Applied & Computational Mathematics & Statistics (ACMS). He returned to Notre Dame to get his Master's Degree in ACMS.
Today, Phil is a Data Scientist at Capital One.
